A year later, so in the 2008/2009 season, team from Olsztyn started the competition from 1/16 of the CEV Cup. The defeat resulted in pushing the Challenge Cup, in which the academics twice succumbed to the Italian Sisley Treviso. The fourth place occupied last year by the volleyball players of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, initially, as a result of the CEV international ranking, gave the dorms a place in the Challenge Cup. The request of the Olsztyn club for the "wild card" for appearances in the CEV Cup, was considered positively by the CEV, On 29 June, the CEV Cup pairs were drawn in Luxembourg - the first rival of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will be Hurrikaani Loimaa!

The Hurrikaani Loimaa club was founded in 2007. The first triumph came quite quickly, because in 2012 the team won the title of runner up in Finland. From that moment, volleyball players from Loima every year won the medals of the national championships, although they have not yet won the most valuable - gold. Last season, the team led by Lauri Rantanena won the fifth in the history of the club, the silver medal.

The new coach of the team was Jussi Heino. The core of the team are among others American setter Matt West and middle-blocker Henrik Porkka. As part of the Finnish Hurricane, there is also the well-known Matti Oivanen from the Olsztyn parquet.

- Tuesday meeting is accompanied by great emotions - admits Paweł Woicki, captain of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn. - Finally, we can play against someone else, a team that is from a different story. In PlusLiga we know each other well, and there is always a light unknown in European cups. Hurrikaani have in their composition two players who were in a wide range of Finland at the World Championships (Antii Ropponen and Henrik Porrka) and have Matti Oivanen. There will be an interesting spectacle that we will want to win, and in the CEV Cup we will go as far as possible. With such meetings, the team builds its identity, develops and gains valuable experience.
